Installation with Multiple Computers

Note: This configuration allows the Phone Adaptor to utilize its Quality of Service option to prioritize your voice traffic to ensure high-quality telephone service. If you would prefer a different setup, see Installation with Multiple Computers (Alternate Setup).
    1. Unplug the power cord for your Cable/DSL modem.
    2. Unplug the power cord for your router.
    3. Disconnect the Ethernet cable connecting your Cable/DSL modem to your router from the WAN/Internet port on your router, and connect that end of the Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the Phone Adaptor.
    4. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable we provide into the PC port on the Phone Adaptor. Connect the other end of this Ethernet cable into the WAN/ Internet port on your router.
    5. Plug the power cord back into your Cable/DSL modem and wait about two minutes for it to start up before continuing.
    6. Plug the power cord back into your router and wait about two minutes for it to start up before continuing.
    7. Connect a telephone to the LINE 1 port of the Phone Adaptor using a standard phone line.
    8. Plug the power cord into the POWER port on the Phone Adaptor and into an electrical outlet. This turns your Phone Adaptor on. You do not need to unplug it when not in use.
    9. Check that the POWER light on the Phone Adaptor is lit. Wait at least five minutes for the Phone Adaptor to start up. There may be updates that need to be downloaded such as new firmware or changes to your features. Do not interrupt the registration process by unplugging the power or lifting the receiver on your phone during the startup process. Interruption of the startup may result in interruption of service.
    10. Pick up your telephone receiver and listen for a dial tone. If you hear a dial tone, you have finished the installation and can begin making calls. You will need to use 11-digit dialing (i.e. 1-Area Code-555-1234). If you do not get a dial tone, please refer to the Advanced Installation and Troubleshooting section of the Installation Guide.
